Three ways to get electricity into the floor

When electric heating makes sense

When you do not heat the entire house but want a warm tiled floor in the bathroom. When renovating an apartment and you cannot access the heating distribution system. When building a passive house with low heat loss, where a hydronic system is unnecessarily complex. And everywhere where photovoltaic systems are planned, as the floor can store daytime heat from self-generation.

Bathroom: most common job

The mat is laid under the tiles around the bath and shower; the thermostat with floor sensor maintains the set temperature, and the time programme heats the floor before your morning shower. In the bathroom, the floor can reach up to 35 °C, while in living areas it stays at or below 29 °C. Installation including electrical wiring and inspection is completed within a day; tiling follows immediately afterwards.

What is included in the supply

Operating costs without embellishment

Electricity is more expensive per kWh than heat from a heat pump, so we recommend electric heating as the main source only for well-insulated buildings or small areas. As supplementary heating for a bathroom or a room where you want comfort, it is the cheapest and fastest solution.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the thickness of the mat under the tiles?

Just a few millimetres; the mat is concealed within the adhesive. The floor build-up remains virtually unchanged, which is the main reason we choose it for renovations.

Do I need an inspection for electric underfloor heating?

Yes. This is a fixed electrical installation; the supply includes connection via a residual current device and an inspection report.

Can the mat be damaged during tile laying?

The risk arises from rough handling with the trowel. Therefore, we measure the mat resistance before laying, after pouring and after tile installation, recording all results in the protocol.
